Who is this for?

Leadership is not a position. It is something we do.

Queensland Leadership is ideally suited to those at senior management level, but it is not a prerequisite to be in a formal leadership role already. Queensland Leadership is open to anyone with the passion and commitment to contribute to a civil society.

The primary requirements for selection are motivation, vision, intellectual rigor, strong personal values, a sphere of influence and a commitment to give something back and make a lasting difference.

We are looking for a diverse group of people from across all sectors: people working in the private sector, for not-for-profit organisations and charities, government and in small business.

You may already be leading change in your organisation—or would like to; hold a sphere of influence; have a specialised field of interest; possess a commitment to your own learning and development; and be keen to further explore your own self-awareness.

Queensland Leadership particularly benefits people who work at a point of interface between their organisation, the community and an issue in the broader world.

Does this sound like you?

You may be:

  • facing a problem that calls for a change in the way things are currently done
  • required to lead change in your organisation or can spot an opportunity to do things differently
  • needing to discover new, ‘next practice’ (as opposed to known, ‘best practice’) solutions to a problem, where the way to make progress is unclear
  • working in an area with potential for social impact, either within the organisation or in the community.
  • feeling stuck or frustrated and keen to find new ways for looking at an old issue
  • at a stage in your life where you feel you need to make a different kind of contribution.

You could be trying to make progress on how your organisation:

  • connects to or understands its social impact
  • manages innovation and/or organisational transformation
  • addresses or makes progress on complex social issues
  • tackles problems which go beyond the organisational walls and engages a variety of competing demands such as sustainability, profitability and social and/or environmental responsibility
