Welcome

The SLA online community is a place for connecting and networking with people who are engaged in creating a new culture of leadership in Australia. People interested in real leadership for real progress – whatever that might mean to us.

Originally a network of SLA program graduates, dating back to 1999, with the launch of this new website, the

SLA 'community' has now expanded to include anyone who is passionate about new approaches to leadership to create the change we want to see in the world.

Welcome.

Once you become a member you can interact with colleagues by blogging, participate in online discussions, post news and events, advertise job opportunities, share resources and search for expertise amongst other members by area of interest.

Our aim has been to keep the site as simple and intuitive as possible. Having said that, we realise there may be some fine-tuning to do. And we encourage you to feedback if there’s anything you think we need to work on.

Okay, so where do I start?

Complete your profile

Click on "your profile" tab top right then select edit on your profile page.

A completed profile will enable others to connect with you, discover what you are doing, what you have done, your projects and interests. SLA receives many enquiries about connecting with individuals with leadership training and experience and about projects and initiatives that are underway or in development. An up to date profile will enable greater connections and increased opportunities.

Please let us know what you are working on, what your challenges are and how the SLA Community might be able to help. There is an abundance of knowledge and experience between us.

Can you recommend anyone for the new Intensive Leadership Program for Indigenous leaders? It's free for participants (just a nominal personal contribution required)

Do you know any Indigenous Leaders who may want to apply for the new intensive leadership program that Social Leadership Australia and FaHCSIA are providing to emerging leaders free of charge?

I am working with Social Leadership Australia to assemble 30 Indigenous Leaders for the new Social Leadership Intensive for Indigenous leaders. It is a six day program, presented in two three-day blocks (18-20 July and 12-14 September) in Sydney, with accommodation, meals and interstate travel costs also provided. We only require a nominal personal contribution of $200 if your application is successful.

18 - 20 July & 12-14 September 2012

The 2012 Social Leadership Intensive is an invitation for Indigenous leaders from across Australia to realise their potential as leaders and to develop their skills to bring about lasting change on the issues that matter most - to them, to their organisation and to their communities.

An initiative of the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA), the program has been especially created for existing and emerging Indigenous leaders wherever they may be in Australia - in business, in government or in the community.

Evaluation Specialist wanted - The School for Social Entrepreneurs

Posted by Janine Moodley

The School for Social Entrepreneurs seeks an evaluation specialist

The School for Social Entrepreneurs is an innovative learning community, whose mission is to incubate, accelerate and celebrate people powering change in their world.  We do this through the delivery of high-impact, action-based peer-learning programs, and the development of vibrant, entrepreneurial communities-of-practice.

SSE Australia was launched in December 2008, based on a model from the UK and has imported the action learning model as the methodology that underpins the nine month learning program called the 'Incubator' program. After three years of program delivery, SSE Australia and its stakeholders wish to ascertain the benefit SSE has had in the emerging field of social entrepreneurship in Australia.

Our aim is to evaluate the relevance, effectiveness, impact and value of the SSE program. In particular, how and if the Incubator program impacts on the development of entrepreneurial skills and knowledge of its students. We want to know how effective these skills are for enterprise development and the role that social networks play.

Please see the brief attached for more detailed information.

Contact Jessie Williams on 0449 117 824 if you have any questions or would like to discuss the opportunity further.
